First Chemo Done!
All I can say is it was weird. A room full of people voluntarily putting poison into their bodies. I know I shouldn't think about it like that but that's what it is. It was easier than I thought. Great nurses! That's always a plus. Felt great right afterwards and for the next few hours. Now I'm starting to feel some effects. The nausea medicine seems to be doing it's job. It's just the headache and feeling tired. Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings!

Chemo Wednesday
Early tomorrow morning starts Cristine's journey with kicking cancer's ass. At least that's the way I see it. Her birthday is Sunday so we celebrated tonight with dinner at Texas Roadhouse, her favorite place. I'm guessing that a trip to a restaurant will be out of the question on Sunday. But maybe not! Ya never know. I hope she surprises everyone and feels great throughout this entire experience. I don't think she will let me take pictures but if she does I'll post them. Not this is something to remember and be happy about but it is certainly a curve in her road that we will conquer!

Tests, tests, and more tests!
Bone scan today. Kinda creepy knowing they are filling you up with radioactive material. CT Scan tomorrow. Get to drink the yucky stuff! Weekend free to hopefully go see my horse if the weather behaves.
And the chemo begins next week. Can't wait for that! Let's just get this show on the road already. Sheesh!

There's something getting under my skin
So, the port is in. Hasn't been too bad. The facility that we went to for the out patient surgery was amazing. Everyone was above and beyond sincerely nice. I got my own personal pair of purple socks with paw prints all over them. I'll have to post a picture. And they hooked a machine up to my gown that blew warm air into it so I didn't get cold! Talk about blowin' your skirt up!!! 45 minutes later I was going home. No side effects from the anesthesia and Vicodin to take care of the pain. What more could I ask for. Tomorrow is a day off and then more tests Thurs. and Fri. A weekend off and chemo starts on Weds. Not looking forward to it but I am looking forward to getting it over with.
Besides fighting with the Army over who was going to do the surgery and reconstruction this has been relatively easy, considering. But the Army admitted they made a mistake and are allowing me to see the civilian docs of my choice. Smart move! Stay tuned. I'm sure this going to be an interesting ride!

Big Day!!
Very busy day today. Walk the boys to school. Love that walk. Off to a blood test. Then to chemo class (can't really say we learned alot) The to Feel Good/Look Good. Lots of free make-up and time to meet other women in my exact same situation. Back home to pick up the boys and off to the nutrition class. Nothing to eat or drink tonight, and port placement tomorrow. At least busy means there is not much time to think... xoxo

Where to begin
This blog will take you with me on my journey. Goodness knows I don't want to do this alone!
On June 27th, 2011 I went to my M.D.'s for an annual check up. She noticed a lump and thinking it was nothing still thought I should have an Ultra Sound. My Ultra Sound was done on July 5th and I was referred to a General Surgeon to have it checked. Still, everyone thought "it was nothing". On August 15th I had a surgical biopsy. Again, the surgeon was sure it was nothing. Just some angry something that needed to come out. On August 18th I was called to come in to the office and was given the diagnosis. I have Breast Cancer. How does that happen when you are only 30 years old, with two young sons, and in a fairly new relationship? How does it happen? Apparently it just does.
I want this blog to keep everyone updated without going in to all of the "details". Surely no one wants to know what kind of foobs (fake boobs) I'm going to have when this is all over!
This Friday I meet with the oncologist for the first time. I suppose I will leave knowing what I am doing first, chemo or surgery. From there...who knows. I'll keep you all posted.
P.S. I love comments!!!
