So, the port is in. Hasn't been too bad. The facility that we went to for the out patient surgery was amazing. Everyone was above and beyond sincerely nice. I got my own personal pair of purple socks with paw prints all over them. I'll have to post a picture. And they hooked a machine up to my gown that blew warm air into it so I didn't get cold! Talk about blowin' your skirt up!!! 45 minutes later I was going home. No side effects from the anesthesia and Vicodin to take care of the pain. What more could I ask for. Tomorrow is a day off and then more tests Thurs. and Fri. A weekend off and chemo starts on Weds. Not looking forward to it but I am looking forward to getting it over with.
Besides fighting with the Army over who was going to do the surgery and reconstruction this has been relatively easy, considering. But the Army admitted they made a mistake and are allowing me to see the civilian docs of my choice. Smart move! Stay tuned. I'm sure this going to be an interesting ride!
I'm so happy to hear that the Army has changed its tune!
